2020-2021

Cool Science Competition Honorees

In memory of our late colleague David, we are honored to name this year's David Lustick Winner. The David Lustick Winner is someone who embodies the youthful and optimistic spirit of the Cool Science program.

Congrats to Margaret, a second grader from Boylston!

During the Fall of 2020, the 9th annual Cool Science Extreme Weather Art Competition received entries from 274 K-12 students in Massachusetts, Kansas, and Missouri answering the following challenge questions:

  • What can you and your family do to keep cool in a heat wave or keep warm in a blizzard?

  • How does a severe storm form?

  • How can your community prepare for extreme flooding?

After a careful and thorough evaluation process, the Cool Science team selected 24 entries that will be displayed this summer on buses of participating Regional Transit Authorities (RTAs) to educate commuters and the public about extreme weather.

Cool Science is proud to present the honorees for 2020-2021. Thanks to all the teachers, mentors, and parents who helped students learn about extreme weather and express their ideas through art. We hope you enjoy the artwork!
